Countersuit Filed Over Toothbrush: Teledyne Industries Inc. has filed a counter lawsuit against Optiva Corp. of Bellevue, Wash. Optiva filed suit against Teledyne in late February alleging patent infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets in connection with Teledyne’s SenSonic toothbrush. In a press release, Ft. Collins, Colo.-based Teledyne said its suit “makes claims of invalidation and non-infringement of Optiva’s patents, as well as defamation and unfair competition practices by Optiva.”

The suit also claims that Optiva deliberately communicated false and misleading information to Teledyne Water Pik clients and potential clients about the effectiveness of the SenSonic instrument and the company’s reputation, the company said.
