NOTEBOOK : East L.A.’s Carmona Wins National Golden Glove Title

Frank Carmona of East Los Angeles captured the national 125-pound title in the 1995 Golden Gloves National Championships in Lowell, Mass.
Carmona outpointed three opponents, including a 4-1 decision over Jorge Barajas of Meridian, Ida. in the finals.
Three other L.A. fighters made the national tournament--Oscar Lopez, Dwain Williams and Fidel Hernandez--but fell short of titles.
