Poppy Picking

I’d like to know which California Poppy Reserve Richard Wegman visited (“Letters” April 23). When I was there with my friend (thanks to your article) enjoying the beautiful gift of nature along with hundreds of other people, I did not see one person walking off the trail, even though the trails were crowded, and I saw no one picking flowers. Nor did I see one piece of litter. Most people who visit natural reserves respect the environment and would not dream of treating it so carelessly. Maybe Mr. Wegman did see one or two who picked and stepped on the flowers, but to urge you never to publish an article is selfish and pompous. People deserve to know that there are beautiful places to visit.
