FDA Probes Pacemaker Manufacturer: The Food and Drug Administration is investigating accusations that the company circumvented a ban on shipping some of its products until the government resolves safety questions about them. Telectronics Pacing Systems strongly denied any wrongdoing in complying with a court-enforced FDA ban on domestic shipments of its pacemakers and other heart devices. The May consent decree followed the company’s worldwide recall of a pacemaker wire that has broken in several people, killing two patients and forcing about 35,000 others to undergo repeat X-rays to check for breaks.
