Missing Woman’s Family Seeks FBI Help

BOSTON — Relatives of Jeanne Hesselschwerdt, a Massachusetts woman missing for two weeks in Yosemite National Park, appealed Sunday for an FBI investigation of her disappearance.
“We have been in touch with officials in [the attorney general’s] office. Jeanne could have been the victim of a crime committed in the park,” said Janet Hesselschwerdt, the missing woman’s sister-in-law.
Over the weekend, relatives and friends of the missing woman searched the area where she was last seen, but no clues were found.
Jeanne Hesselschwerdt, a 37-year-old social worker from the Boston suburb of Arlington, was visiting the California park July 9 with her fiance, Mike Monihan of Boston, when the two stopped to stretch their legs.
After heading in separate directions, Monihan returned an hour later, but Hesselschwerdt never did.
