COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NATION : Frazier Returns as Nebraska Starter

Tommie Frazier, who sat out most of Nebraska’s national championship season last year because of surgery for blood clots, will start at quarterback for the Cornhuskers in next week’s season opener at Oklahoma State. Coach Tom Osborne said Frazier graded out better in films than Brook Berringer, who took over for most of the regular season.

Ernie Badeaux, a highly touted freshman defensive tackle at Florida, was suspended for six games by the university for a fight at a bar near the Gainesville campus. . . . Two suspended Mississippi players--offensive lineman Tim Evans and cornerback Fred Thomas--were charged with forging checks at Oxford, Miss., stores. . . . Oregon wide receiver Cristin McLemore, 22, and a friend, Craig Bell, 23, were acquitted of disorderly conduct charges in Portland stemming from a traffic stop in May.
