GT Bicycles Inc.: The Santa Ana mountain bike company revealed recently that 3,900 bicycles sold a couple of years ago have defective welds above the front wheel, which have resulted in several personal injury lawsuits.

The faulty parts were supplied by a Taiwanese company, a GT Bicycle official said. The Consumer Products Safety Division and all customers and dealers were notified in June, he added. The defective products were disclosed in a recent prospectus describing the company’s first public offering of stock.
