August Sales Up 2.1% for Ford, 2.6% for Industry: Ford’s sales contributed to achieving a second month this year in which the industry’s deliveries of cars and light trucks surpassed 1994 levels. Ford Chairman Alex Trotman said he expects additional sales growth as the year continues. Ford Motor Co. sales this year have consistently outpaced its 1994 totals. The industry overall, however, was behind year-ago levels from January through June. The industry attributed its August increase mainly to strength from the Big Three. Year to date, industry sales are down 1.7%.
