As I read the article on AmeriCorps (“Worthy Work, Even Dumpster-Diving, Nov. 4) I couldn’t hold back my feelings about what the Republican Congress has been legislating in the past weeks. I think they have gone way too far. It is clear that they do not care about the average working person, elderly, youth or anyone needing some assistance just to make a living.
If I had my way, Speaker Newt Gingrich and all of his Republican cronies would take a gigantic cut in their incomes and see what it feels like to only earn $500 a week. Hopefully, they would learn a lesson in compassion and understanding.
