I have two questions for Jim Murray, who wrote [March 10] that Steffi Graf at 14 “didn’t look like a world-class tennis player. A world-class showgirl, perhaps. Those legs and all that blond hair. Marlene Dietrich with a forehand.”

1. What is a world-class tennis player supposed to look like?

2. Why is a Pulitzer Prize-winning sports columnist describing a 14-year-old athlete as a world-class showgirl?
