Twelve visiting scholars from developing countries will be leaving UCLA today after spending the past three months at the Westwood university learning about AIDS.
UCLA conducts a significant amount of AIDS research, education and patient care at the hospital’s AIDS Institute.
The scholars are from China, Russia, India, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil and other countries. They will return to their home nations to conduct AIDS research, and UCLA researchers plan to visit in the next year.
The visit has taught the foreign scholars new lab techniques, how to design experiments properly and where to apply for grants, said Roxanne Moster, a UCLA spokeswoman.
