Disappointed

For shame! Your article (“Food for the Soul,” May 5) recommending travel in Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a great disappointment. Other L.A. Times articles have informed readers that the repressive military government uses forced labor to build roads upon which tourists travel and dams that provide water and electricity for tourist facilities. Airport taxes support a government that has been condemned by our own State Department and threatened with a boycott for human rights abuses. Surely, you will give deeper consideration to publishing anything that encourages travel to Myanmar.
