Regarding Matthew Okada’s letter in response to “Screenwriters Want to Tell Own Stories” (June 12) in which Mr. Okada lambastes a screenwriter for seeking more recognition for writers in the creation of films:
As a teacher and writer, may I remind Mr. Okada and others like him that without the writer and his/her imagination and expertise, there is no movie. No film industry. No story for the actor to act, director to direct or filmmaker to fund. No story means no story. Stick that on the screen and stare at it.
