U.S. Beats South Korea in Ninth, 7-3

A.J. Hinch hit a bases-loaded, two-run single in the ninth inning to lead Team USA to a 7-3 victory over South Korea at Millington, Tenn.

Hinch’s hit snapped a 3-3 tie, and Warren Morris and Jacque Jones added RBI singles for the final score.

The U.S. took a 3-0 lead in the first two innings on a two-run homer by center fielder Mark Kotsay, his fourth, and a solo shot by Matt LeCroy, his seventh.

But South Korean reliever Kim Sun-Woo (0-2) shut down the Americans until the ninth.

Braden Looper (1-0) got the victory.

The U.S. (24-3), which has won a team record 19 in a row at home, now has three days off before playing its final pre-Olympic games at USA Stadium--Friday and Saturday against Japan and Sunday and Monday against Italy. The U.S.’s first Olympic game is July 20 against Nicaragua.
