Electron Beam Accelerator to Probe Secrets of Matter

Officials have christened a $600-million electron beam accelerator that will probe the secrets of matter.

The Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility, its name since construction began more than a decade ago, became the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility at the May 24 ceremony attended by U.S. Energy Secretary Hazel O’Leary and several hundred scientists and area schoolchildren.
