Cal State Northridge sophomore defender Brett Vorster has been declared academically ineligible for the season.

Vorster, from Birmingham High, started three games for the Matadors last season.

Senior Greg Avila, a starting fullback and midfielder at Chaminade, has transferred to Kennedy. Avila was a second-team All-Mission League selection last season.

Northridge forward Kris Swanson, a junior transfer from Mission College, is academically ineligible, Coach Marwan Ass’ad said.

Swanson, a former Granada Hills standout, did not play in the Matadors’ first two games because his transcript is incomplete. Ass’ad said he expects Northridge officials to approve a corrected transcript later this week and that Swanson will play Friday against California.
