Tuffree Deliberations to Resume Monday

Jurors in the Daniel Allan Tuffree murder trial continued deliberations without returning a verdict for a third day Friday. The 12-member jury has now discussed the case a total of 12 1/2 hours since closing arguments were concluded early Wednesday afternoon.
Tuffree is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Simi Valley Police Officer Michael Clark.
Jurors on Friday started deliberations at 9:30 a.m. and finished at 2 p.m., taking a 30-minute lunch break. The jury broke early because one of its members had a medical appointment, Deputy Public Defender Richard Holly said.
The jury has not asked to have any testimony read back from the six-week trial. But jurors did request a copy of Tuffree’s tape-recorded interview with authorities after the shooting and a written transcript of the three-hour interview, Holly said.
The jury is scheduled to continue deliberating Monday.
