Daschle Seeks Ban on Abortion Method

Declaring he wants to severely limit a “repulsive” late-term abortion procedure, Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) said he’s seeking a compromise that could avoid another presidential veto. Daschle said he has President Clinton’s blessing to produce a bill that would ban any so-called partial-birth abortions that are chosen “for the sake of convenience.” Abortion foes quickly predicted the effort would fail.
