Front-Line Players Key Irvine Victory

UC Irvine had three players score in double figures as the Anteaters rolled past Coppin (Md.) State, 81-43, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday at UC Irvine.

The Anteaters (5-6) dominated up front thanks to the play of center Kirsten Cappel (19 points) and forward Leticia Oseguera (18).

Cappel made eight of eight shots from the field and three of six free throws. Oseguera was eight of 10 from the field. Sabrina Robinson, the other forward, had seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Chelsea Mackey, a reserve, scored 13 points for UC Irvine, which had a 19-5 run over the final 12 minutes.

Coppin State is 0-7.
