Various artists, “Jackpot! The Las Vegas Story,” Rhino. (**)

In one of the more imaginative spins on the endless and mostly silly lounge music revival, Rhino has given us a cross-section of the music you might have heard if you’d spent a few nights in Vegas showrooms in the ‘50s and ‘60s. There are some moments worth remembering, including Louis Prima & Keely Smith’s good-natured “That Old Black Magic,” Bobby Darin’s snappy “Lazy River” and Eartha Kitt’s always-fun “C’Est Si Bon.” Mostly, however, the roster--from Wayne Newton and Paul Anka to Jerry Vale and Liberace--reminds you of the passive adult music that led to the rock ‘n’ roll revolution.
