* No. 9 UCLA (20-7, 14-3) at WASHINGTON STATE (13-16, 5-12)

By defeating the Cougars today in Pullman, Wash., the Bruins would end the regular season on a nine-game winning streak and having won 18 of their last 22 games. That would give them an outside chance at a No. 2 seeding when the NCAA tournament brackets are announced Sunday afternoon. With the voting already completed by league coaches, UCLA is expecting senior forward Charles O’Bannon to be named conference player of the year, although he turned in his career-high 31-point effort Thursday after the vote had been taken. “I don’t think there’s any question that he’s separated himself from the other contenders,” Coach Steve Lavin said Friday morning. “In the last three weeks or so, he’s just dominated across the board, statistically.”
