Investigators with the Oxnard Police Department were looking Thursday for several juveniles believed to have been involved in a drive-by shooting the night before.
A 16-year-old boy narrowly escaped serious injury when his head was grazed by a bullet fired from a car in which several young men were riding, an Oxnard Police Department spokesman said. The incident occurred at 8:20 p.m. on the 3500 block of Sutter Drive.
The youths reportedly yelled out gang slogans before firing at the 16-year-old, who was walking home, the spokesman said.
The boy was not seriously injured but was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released, officials said.
