NOT ONE OF HER FAVORITE THINGS

Perhaps it is a side-effect of Steven Soderbergh’s funk, but he does not seem to accept responsibility for the failure of his films (“The Funk of Steven Soderbergh,” by Scott Collins, Feb. 16).

“The Underneath” is a prime example. He displayed no understanding or appreciation of the material, wrote a bad script and turned in a mediocre job as director. Yet he was paid extremely well for “a picture he couldn’t stand.”

I, on the other hand, paid to see it and resent having spent money to get a feeling that I’d been ripped off. It’s a mistake I won’t make again.
