Parks Dept. Seeks Computer Update

With a slew of classes and sports leagues to track, Moorpark’s recreation and parks department wants a new computer program.
Mary Lindley, the city’s director of community services, has asked the City Council for permission to buy a computer program that will keep tabs on registration for classes, create a master schedule for city-owned facilities and playing fields, and track revenue.
The RecWare system will cost $7,800, including maintenance and training.
Three years ago, the city commissioned its own custom-designed program to process recreation class registration.
But the $500 system proved balky and limited, able to process only about three months of information at a time.
The city stopped using it midway through last year.
The council is scheduled to vote on the request Wednesday.
