Upon reading about the difficulty in finding a proper memorial to the people who perished in the Oklahoma City bombing (April 19), may I suggest:
Instead of a monument to the dead, why not put all those millions of dollars in a fund to establish day care centers throughout the city, which are so sorely needed.
Each center could be named for a child who perished or was critically injured, thus perpetuating his or her memory and benefiting thousands of children and working parents. Each center could also have an area such as a reading nook, nature, art or scientific area that could be chosen by the families of the deceased adults as most fitting to their loved one’s memory.
I also might add the suggestion that a drive be held every year for added funds, which also could help those left in need through the loss of a breadwinner.
