4 Times Writers Win Awards for Restaurant, Food Stories

Four Times writers won James Beard Foundation Journalism Awards for stories ranging from restaurant reviews to a series on a Berkeley restaurateur.
The awards, presented last Friday at a banquet in New York, recognize excellence in food and beverage journalism.
The following Times writers won awards:
S. Irene Virbila for her restaurant reviews; Laurie Ochoa for her series on Alice Waters, the creator of California cuisine and the founder of the Berkeley restaurant Chez Panisse; David Shaw for wine writing; Russ Parsons for an article, “Toward a More Eatable Nectarine.”
The James Beard Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the practice and appreciation of the culinary arts.
