Ecumenical Service to Focus on Aiding Needy

Congregants from across Los Angeles County have been invited to an ecumenical prayer service in Baldwin Park on Monday.
The goal of the service, to be held in English and Spanish, is to inform worshipers about new political policies like immigration and welfare reform and exhort them to care for society’s most vulnerable people, said Beto Ramos of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese’s Office of Hispanic Ministry.
Similar services are being held across the country.
“The idea is to be a church with a mission, going out to care for the poorest of our brothers,” Ramos said.
The service begins at 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3848 Stewart Avenue.
