Making a Splash in Chula Vista

A 32-acre water theme park is to open May 31 in Chula Vista, near San Diego. White Water Canyon has 16 water slides, a wave pool, food and picnic facilities, and even a ballpark and sand volleyball pits. Park officials say up to 1,400 people at once can float and ride the waves in the 24,000-square-foot pool.
The park is at 2052 Otay Valley Road, about seven miles south of downtown San Diego. Admission is $20.99 for adults and $14.99 for children. It will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 31-June 1, June 7-8; and then daily beginning June 14. Information: (619) 426-7275.
