Economy ‘Booming’?

I must say that the definition of a “booming economy” has widened considerably (“Economic Growth Hits Highest Rate in Decade,” May 31).

By all accounts our economy is “booming” even though a third of Americans have either inadequate or no medical coverage, credit card defaults are at record levels, and--most disturbing of all--we will eventually enter a time when there will be no such thing as retirement.

People will have to forget trips to Europe and instead work until they die--if they can find work.

Our economy is on the cutting edge of something, but I’m not sure what that is.
