Lak, Bovetas Pace Zodiac to Victory

Peter Lak and John Bovetas each scored in the first half to lead the Zodiac to a 2-1 victory over the El Paso Patriots in an A-League game Saturday night at Santa Ana Stadium.

The loss was the fifth in row for the Patriots, who fell to 3-10. The Zodiac, which won its third consecutive game, improves to 4-4.

Lak, who played at Cal State Fullerton, and Bovetas, who played for Chapman, scored their first goals of the season.

Goalkeeper Marco Cerna recorded his third victory in a row with five saves.

Felipe Rodriguez recorded an assist on the first goal for the Zodiac.
