Flint Named WCC’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Mollie Flint, who was a Times’ Orange County first-team selection in girls’ basketball as a senior at Corona del Mar High in 1993, was named the West Coast Conference’s female scholar-athlete of the year.
Flint was a two-time Academic All-American, graduating from St. Mary’s with a 3.95 grade-point average in accounting. A 5-5 point guard, Flint averaged 7.8 points, 3.76 assists and 2.2 steals her senior season.

Daniela Hugelshofer of Mission Viejo has earned All-SCIAC honors as an outfielder for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team, the college announced.
Hugelshofer, who graduated from Capistrano Valley High, also is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College, where she majored in psychology.

The Tournament of Champions, a girls’ summer high school basketball event at SouthernCalifornia College, continues today.
Eight games are scheduled, including semifinals at 7:20 and 8:30 p.m.
Many top area high school teams are participating, including Woodbridge, Esperanza, San Clemente, El Toro, Edison and Marina.
