High School Media to Hear Deputies on Sober Driving

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will host a press conference for the high school media Friday to provide information about National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month.

Reporters from South County high schools are invited. The hope is they will spread the word among their peers about the dangers of driving while intoxicated.

Topics include underage drinking laws, zero-tolerance regulations for drivers younger than 21, mandatory license suspensions and upcoming special events. Reporters will meet with deputies at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department station in Aliso Viejo. The professional press also is invited.

About 50 people in Orange County are are killed every year by drunk or drugged drivers.
