Santa Versus Grinch in 2000? This Poll Raises the Question

WASHINGTON — Santa is surely a registered Democrat, given his reputation as a public benefactor, an opinion poll released Wednesday said.
But the “Grinch who stole Christmas”, the fictional spoilsport invented by author Dr. Seuss, is a Republican, the poll by Fox News concluded.
Even many supporters of the Republican Party would expect the miserable Grinch to be on their side of the political fence and jolly Santa on the other, it showed.
The survey of 904 registered voters found that 39% thought Santa would register as a Democrat against 22% as a Republican. And 23% were not sure what party he belongs to. About 13% called him an independent.
For the Grinch, about 29% say he’s a Democrat, whereas 35% think he’s a Republican.
