Group Seeks Toys for Housing Project Children

A community group is looking for toys to help brighten the holidays for children who live in nearby housing projects.
About 150 toys have been donated for the children of the Pico-Aliso housing project, but another 150 are needed to have a present for each child, said Erica Parra, a program assistant with Imaginando Manana: Pico-Aliso Community Team Outreach.
The gifts will go to children who participate in the outreach program after school and in mentoring programs, as well as to children of young men in probation camps.
“We’re hoping we can do something for their holiday,” Parra said. “When these kids see toys, their faces just light up and they ask, ‘Are we going to get presents for Christmas?’ ”
