President Truman

* I find interesting that as PBS station KCET was showing a documentary about Harry S. Truman (thankfully without the ratings warnings of pay TV), in The Times on Oct. 6, both Lyndon Johnson and George McGovern are shown second-guessing some of their most important policy issues. When you combine this with the recent mea culpa by Robert McNamara concerning the Vietnam War, you gotta wonder: What would Harry say?

Is it really that surprising that voter apathy has reached such a dangerous level? Just a suggestion to all our current “leaders”: Make some decisions, don’t follow the polls and read more about Truman!
