School Board Apologizes for Distribution of Flier

The Walnut Valley Unified School Board has issued an apology to parents after a school administrator placed a political flier among registration materials at the local high school, officials said Monday.
The apology came after supporters of an anti-redevelopment ballot measure revealed that the flier attacking their cause was distributed at Diamond Bar High School last month.
In response to a complaint from Diamond Bar parent Kevin J. House, the Fair Political Practices Commission has begun a review of the incident, according to a commission letter.
Mike Bower, school district spokesman, said the flier’s distribution was a “bad decision by a good person” and that the administrator has been reprimanded.
The flier distributed Aug. 12 asked parents to remove their signatures or not sign a petition being circulated that sought voter approval for a Diamond Bar redevelopment plan.
The County Registrar-Recorder is trying to determine if the petition has the required number of signatures needed to put the measure on the ballot.
