* I have been a longtime admirer of Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and applaud several of his policies and efforts to improve the way things are done in Los Angeles.
However, I and countless others are appalled that the mayor would even consider speaking this week at a pro-El Toro airport engagement.
His capacity as Los Angeles mayor makes any interference--including even tacit advocacy of a plan which is (in recent polling) opposed by a plurality in Orange County--utterly inappropriate, not to mention unwelcome.
We will deal with this ourselves.
