* Your Dec. 5 Saturday Journal article on the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co. and its workers was fascinating. The subject is far from my usual interests (politics, social causes, cultural) but, once started, I read to the end. Because of John Johnson’s descriptive paragraphs I was able to picture the cud-chewing Florida, the nights on deck, the lifestyle of the men involved. I was very moved by those descriptions, poetic images and close-ups of personnel.
My best respects to Bob Haas, foreman Tom LaVera and the others and, of course, to Johnson, who made the subject so readable.
