School Board Bypasses College District Issue

The school board has declined to issue a resolution asking the North Orange County Community College District to drop a bankruptcy-related lawsuit.
The Santa Ana Unified School District’s proposed resolution died due to a lack of support. Board members this week said the college district may have good cause to pursue its lawsuit.
The New York law firm LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae has agreed to pay $50 million to settle an investors’ lawsuit regarding the firm’s role in Orange County’s unprecedented bankruptcy.
As part of the $50-million settlement, the firm would pay the Santa Ana school district $1.1 million and the college district $6.7 million.
But the agreement is being held up because the college district is pursuing a separate lawsuit against LeBoeuf.
LeBoeuf wants that college district suit dropped.
