Surfing Competition

L.A. Times Archives

* What: National Scholastic Surfing Assn. Championships.

* When: Today through Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. each day.

* Where: Today and Monday on south side of Huntington Beach Pier. Tuesday through Saturday at Lower Trestles in San Clemente.

* Schedule: National interscholastic championships for middle schools, high schools and colleges today and Monday. National explorer championships Tuesday through Thursday with finals on Saturday. National open championships Thursday through Saturday. Surfing, long boarding and bodyboarding will also be contested.

* Admission: Free at both sites; $6 parking at Lower Trestles.
