Museum Tours Offer Look at War Planes

The Confederate Air Force World War II Aviation Museum at the Camarillo Airport is now open for free tours every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Confederate Air Force, Southern California Wing, is a nonprofit group that restores and flies World War II-era aircraft. The international organization has been based at the Camarillo Airport since 1982.
Five World War II aircraft based at Camarillo have received numerous awards. Currently, a rare Japanese Zero fighter is undergoing extensive maintenance.
Also,, a Curtiss C-46 transport, a Grumman F8F-2 fighter, a North American SNJ Navy trainer and a North American B-25 Mitchell bomber are permanently based at the museum. All are in flying condition except the B-25, which is undergoing restoration.
