An effort to preserve and restore 72-year-old buildings at Villa Park Elementary School could cost up to $1.4 million, according to a new report.
Orange Unified School District trustees recently hired an architect and structural engineer to review the buildings’ structural integrity.
The report estimated a cost of about $1.4 million to bring eight classrooms in the buildings up to code, and about $1.2 million for five classrooms. If the buildings were restored for noneducational use, the cost would be about $762,600.
Board members agreed to consider preserving the long-abandoned structures.
