A Writer to Watch

Thank you for running the cover story on Octavia Butler (“Out of Sight,” by Pamela Warrick, Oct. 18). When it comes to acknowledging writers who manage to avoid falling into predictable categories, there can never be enough in print. This one well-placed article will result in Butler’s talent being exposed to millions of potential readers, something even a MacArthur grant could not accomplish.
