ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Biomerica Inc.: The Newport Beach manufacturer of medical diagnostic products reported a net loss of $16,689 for the first fiscal quarter ended Aug. 31, contrasted with net income of $137,286, or 3 cents a share, for the same period last year. Sales declined 4% to $2.2 million from $2.3 million.

The company attributed the decrease in net income primarily to a slowing in Asian international diagnostic sales, and expenditures on new product development.
