Consumer Portfolio Services Inc.: The Irvine company, which purchases, sells and services sales contracts originated by car dealers, said net income for the third quarter increased 29% to $6.2 million, or 38 cents a share, from $4.8 million, or 30 cents a share, for the like period last year. Revenue advanced 76% to $37.4 million from $21.3 million.
