Cypress Earns Cuesta Cup Title

Jane Specht scored three goals in two games as the Cypress College women’s soccer team won the Cuesta Cup Sunday in San Luis Obispo.

Specht, a freshman from Cypress High, was one of four players to score as the Chargers beat Moorpark, 4-0, in the title game.

Nicole Terry, Kristie McMahan and Amy Maloney had the other goals for Cypress (2-0), which was tied, 0-0, at the half.

Specht scored twice, and McMahan and Wendy Matis each had one goal and Lisa Hermen added three assists as Cypress beat Ohlone, 4-1, in the semifinal round.

Cypress beat Cosumnes River, 7-0, beat Santa Barbara, 2-0, and tied Cabrillo, 0-0, in 60-minute, pool-play games Saturday that don’t count on the Chargers’ overall record.
