To prevent overnight parking and reserve parking spaces for local businesses, City Council members voted Tuesday night to ban parking on Chestnut Avenue between 2 and 5 a.m.

John and Dawn Gardner of Gardner Tractors had complained that cars often remained parked in one space for several weeks at a time, preventing customer parking and street cleaning. They also said that cars parked close to their store’s driveway proved a hazard to heavy equipment entering and exiting throughout the day.
