GOP Candidates to Debate

Four days after meeting in New Hampshire, the six Republican presidential candidates will debate tonight in Phoenix. Arizona Sen. John McCain, who had previously said he would not participate, will join his five rivals via satellite from New Hampshire.

McCain is campaigning in New Hampshire today and would have had to cancel nine events to fly home for the debate, his campaign said. Conservative activist Gary Bauer, Texas Gov. George W. Bush, publisher Steve Forbes, Sen. Orrin G. Hatch and former ambassador Alan Keyes will be in Phoenix.

CNN, which is sponsoring the debate with the Arizona Republican Party, will broadcast the hourlong forum live beginning at 5 p.m. PST. The news network will also video-stream the debate online at https://www.cnn.com.
