Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Growing Marijuana

LOS ANGELES — A juvenile probation officer pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that he grew marijuana in his home, authorities said.
Carlos Norman Taylor, 42, a probation officer at Eastlake Juvenile Hall, was arraigned in Los Angeles Municipal Court after he was arrested Monday, said district attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons.
Responding to a neighbor’s complaint, police searched Taylor’s home in the 5100 block of South 2nd Avenue in South Los Angeles. They found a marijuana plant in his backyard, drying equipment in his garage and nearly 2 kilograms of the drug in a bedroom, Gibbons said.
Taylor remained in custody Wednesday on $15,000 bail, authorities said. A preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 20. He faces a maximum of three years in prison if convicted.
