Millennium Rates Falling in Vegas

Millennium room rates are falling in Las Vegas, says Anthony Curtis, publisher of the Las Vegas Advisor newsletter. “The public said ‘baloney,’ and they dropped the rates,” he said of major hotels. Curtis’ staff called 65 hotels last month and found 59 still had New Year’s rooms--compared with 41 at the same time last year. He said rates, on average, had gone from three to four times higher than last New Year’s to about double.

As of last week, at least one Strip hotel reported being only half booked for New Year’s Eve.
